HOLIDAY HOMES IN RHODES : MALONA

This is a great opportunity to stay in a real Greek village house, with all the charm that cannot be experienced in a modern villa or hotel. These houses have been renovated lovingly with traditional materials and Eco friendly techniques which help to keep them cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. The joy of these houses, apart from their unique character, is that they are away from the mainstream tourism areas of the island. You can choose when to join the hustle and bustle of tourist hotspots, or totally escape and easily explore the wilder, emptier parts of the island from here.
Malona is located in easy reach of lots of great beaches, 5 mins to your nearest 3 beaches, Sandy, fine pebbles or stones are your choices. 15 mins from Lindos, 45 mins to Rhodes town, and 45 mins over to the wilder areas of Monolithos. A car is an important part of a holiday here!
If you are the kind of people who like to experience something a little different, and enjoy being in the heart of the real Rhodes with all its charm, character and quirks, these are the houses for you.

LOCATION : MALONA, SOUTH EAST RHODES

Picture
These 1895 original old village stone houses, restored with environmental materials are set in a quiet, traditional corner of the village of Malona. Just 5 minutes drive from the beautiful golden beach of Agathi, and the pretty harbour of Haraki, the village of Malona has alot to offer in both the summer and the winter. It is an active traditional agricultural village, surrounded by orange, mandarin and olive groves which keep the locals busy all year around. Malona is a small village with little narrow streets, and retains its Greek traditional pace of life. A place where the men of the village sit out in the evenings in the local cafes, and the women sit together in the streets with the children. Many here speak some English after time spent working in America, and you will find them mostly friendly. A 15 minute drive finds you in the beautiful village of Lindos for romantic evenings out, or 5 minutes to sit by the sea in Haraki, or 10 mins in the other direction, in the heart of Rhodes 2nd town Archangelos. Of course there are also the village tavernas, which serve great food too.

There is a decent sized supermarket on the main road towards Lindos which is only a 10 min drive away. You will find banks, and all general shops and services in Archangelos.. There are a few eating places in Malona and more can be found in Haraki. Lindos is where you will find the really active nightlife, with roof top bars and nightclubs. There is an information book in the house with lots of ideas for eating and visiting.
Coast/Beach
A 5 minute drive takes you to the pretty little fishing harbour of Haraki, with very pleasant cafes and tavernas along it promenade. This is a shingle bay with a fast drop into the crystal clear water. Agathi beach next door is beautiful sand, and shallow easy access to the water. This beach has many sunbeds and some beach cafes. A 15 minute drive takes you to Lindos in one direction, to Kolimbia in the other, and not forgetting stunning Tsambika beach with its inflatable aqua parks and water sports, or quieter Stegna beach in between which has excellent snorkelling at either end.
